Race: The Media’s Only Prerequisite For Electability In 2008

Improving Domestic Relations

The AP is in the tank for Obama. We all know it. They’re also in favor of stoking racial tension, as well.

It’s one thing for Obama’s campaign to stoke racial tension, it’s entirely another for a major news outlet to do so for the political gain of a specific candidate. It’s even more reckless and irresponsible to do so without merit.

Yet, here it is, from the AP’s Douglass Daniel:

Palin’s words avoid repulsing voters with overt racism. But is there another subtext for creating the false image of a black presidential nominee “palling around” with terrorists while assuring a predominantly white audience that he doesn’t see their America?

In a post-Sept. 11 America, terrorists are envisioned as dark-skinned radical Muslims, not the homegrown anarchists of Ayers’ day 40 years ago. With Obama a relative unknown when he began his campaign, the Internet hummed with false e-mails about ties to radical Islam of a foreign-born candidate.

Whether intended or not by the McCain campaign, portraying Obama as “not like us” is another potential appeal to racism. It suggests that the Hawaiian-born Christian is, at heart, un-American.

Most troubling, however, is how allowing racism to creep into the discussion serves McCain’s purpose so well. As the fallout from Wright’s sermons showed earlier this year, forcing Obama to abandon issues to talk about race leads to unresolved arguments about America’s promise to treat all people equally.

For Obama supporters (including the AP), turning a blind eye to terrorist affiliations is worthy effort to elect the most unqualified President in United States history.

If you want to legitimize the issue of race in this election, allow me to do it for you properly:

Why does the mainstream media openly defend and promote the most unqualified candidate in the nation’s 227 years simply because he’s half-black?

Newsflash! Being black, white, or any other skin tone is not a qualification for the most powerful office in the world. Get a clue, America. When you’re friends with radicals and terrorists, you have no business occupying the most powerful position on earth. Terrorism seeks to suppress and socialism seeks to suppress and Barack Obama is cozy with both ideologies.

Gov. Palin’s comments are included in this video:

A Democratic strategist had this to say about Gov. Palin’s remarks:

“It’s a giant changing of the subject,” said Jenny Backus, a Democratic strategist. “The problem is the messenger. If you want to start throwing fire bombs, you don’t send out the fluffy bunny to do it. I think people don’t take Sarah Palin seriously.”

I think the only fluffy bunnies here are the ones inside Jenny Backus’ head. It’s more than effective because the nation is listening to Gov. Palin because she represents the heart of Americana. She’s a political figure with Main Street appeal that is unapologetic about how wonderful our country and its people are.

Every intelligent American understands that playing the race card is shallow attempt to ignore the real issue of Sen. Obama’s poor judgment, socialist views, and ties to extremists that disqualify him for consideration as America’s next President.

H/T Hot Air, Malkin.
